Christmas 2018

Opening our Shoebox Shuffle

Our last meeting before Christmas was celebrated with coffee, snacks and mince pies supplied by Marion (thank you).

We all enjoyed opening the Shoebox shuffle bags and boxes.  About thirteen members took part giving instructions for a block of their choosing. Each block gave us a chance to try a variety of  designs, some more challenging than others, and was a good way of finding designs we may not thought of to use  in a quilt of our own.

A Striking use of  black and some lovely fabrics.

Sorry Marian- should have moved round for the photo.
Turned applique cups,jugs and teapots.

Good choice of colours giving a fresh striking pattern.

Love the colours and fabrics.

Don't know about the rest of you, but this is one I am going to do.

Love all ideas that use up the boxes of scrap fabric.
Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

You can't beat the simple and straight forward block.

The colours on in this box were striking.
It will be fun matching the materials used to the quilter.

Not  a quilt for these beach huts, but, a beach bag!

Garlic knot .  All the scrap blocks will make a striking quilt.

Variation of the log cabin.
It is always surprising how the slightest change gives a dramatic effect.

Bright and cheerful with the Hungry Caterpillar as the centre
 - just right for children.
We finished off our meeting with a Christmas meal at the local hostelry.  Thanks to Brenda for the little hand made bags full of goodies.
Hopefully, you will be able to see the completed quilts at our quilt show on the 1st and 2nd June 2019.
